A great name for a sun tanning cream, Cooltan
has been lost to cut-throat competitors.
The sun tan cream was the brainchild of an advertising copywriter
before WW2. Cooltan was the market leader across the world. On his
death, he left his estate to his secretary who had no knowledge of
marketing. She clung to his final instructions but, like Miss Haversham,
she could never accept or adapt to the changes around her. So the
product died.

Paul Broadbent was the creative
director behind the advertising in the 1970’s. It caused a sensation
with some publications refusing to accept the ad. How times have changed!
