Before British Airways there were two state-owned
airlines: BOAC and BEA. British European Airlines, a client of Leo
Burnett, was Paul Broadbent’s first travel and tourism account.
The way Paul broke down the barriers between “them and us”
or the client and the agency, became his hall mark. Whilst working
for Leo Burnett, he insinuaterd himself into BEA’s marketing
department .

This enabled him to communicate
the client’s needs better to the creative and media teams.
He was involved in the launches of the airlines’ first class
service, (Sovereign Service), Silver Wing Holidays (package tours),
the introduction of the Trident aircraft and several new routes from
Britain’s provincial airports.
Paul’s relationship with BEA and subsequently British Airways
was always maintained on a friendly basis. When the time came to promote
Australia Click here, this contact led to many marketing successes.
