Leave Paul Broadbent with nothing to do and
he starts to draw - waiters, children, animals, the person at the
next table. Most turn out to be vicious caricatures but easily recognisable.
He qualified for Goldsmiths College of Art but was conscripted into
the army first and, when his two years were up, decided to go into
advertising and make money rather than slum it as a student.

This painting was done in 1996
and was his first attempt at oils. It was exhibited alongside several
famous, or infamous, contemporary artists in a London art gallery.
Many sketches have been used in one form or another in advertising
or packaging.
